Centerville Bridge Closure Scheduled as Part of $1.56 Million Preservation Project

St. Mary Parish, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that the Centerville Bridge over Bayou Teche in St. Mary Parish will be closed to all vehicular traffic beginning Monday, March 2 through Monday, April 27.
This temporary closure is necessary to allow crews to perform hydraulic repairs, replace piping, and mount structural steel beneath the bridge for the installation of a proposed span-mounted traffic barrier.
The work is part of an ongoing $1,559,383.00 off-system bridge preservation project aimed at extending the service life of the Centerville Bridge over Bayou Teche.
Emergency vehicles will not have access to the bridge during the closure period.
Detour Information Motorists will be directed to use the following designated detour routes:
- Louisiana Highway 182
- Willow Street Bridge (LA 3069)
- Louisiana Highway 87
DOTD appreciates the public’s patience as this important infrastructure improvement project is completed. Motorists are urged to drive with caution near the construction zone and remain alert for work crews and equipment.
