DOTD to Resume Construction on LA 928 (Bluff Rd.); Full Closure Scheduled Beginning March 9- Ascension Parish

PRAIRIEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces construction is scheduled to resume on LA 928 (Bluff Road) in Ascension Parish.
Beginning Monday, March 9, at 7 a.m., LA 928 will be fully closed between Serenity Lake Lane and Alligator Bayou Road. The closure will remain in place through Monday, May 4, 2026. No through traffic will be permitted during this time.
The patching, milling and overlay portion of the project has been completed. This phase of work will focus on replacing failing culverts at Jim Bayou.
The culvert replacement was not included in the project’s original scope. However, after the existing structures were dewatered and thoroughly inspected, significant structural deficiencies were identified in the approximately 60-year-old drainage structures. The condition of the culverts warranted immediate replacement to maintain roadway integrity and public safety.
Delaying the work would have increased the risk of structural failure, potentially resulting in an emergency closure to protect public safety and requiring expedited repairs. Addressing the issue now allows DOTD to complete the replacement in a controlled manner and avoid a more disruptive emergency situation for the traveling public.
DOTD continuously monitors roadway conditions and will immediately close any roadway or structure if it is determined to be unsafe or poses a risk to the traveling public. Safety remains our top priority.

Detour Information
From LA 427 (Perkins Road): Motorists should bypass LA 928 to US 61. Travel southbound on US 61 to LA 73. Turn right onto LA 73 westbound to LA 74. Turn right onto LA 74 northbound and continue to the signal at LA 928. Turn right onto LA 928 to complete the detour.
From LA 74: Motorists should bypass LA 928 to LA 73. Travel eastbound on LA 73 to US 61. Turn left onto US 61 northbound to LA 427. Turn left onto LA 427 westbound and continue to the signal at LA 928. Turn left onto LA 928 to complete the detour.
