PROJECT UPDATE: LA 717 between Weekly Road and Louisiana Ave. – Cameron Parish

Cameron Parish – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that work continues on the $4.10 million project to replace the second bridge on LA 717 over Klondike Bayou.
Crews with Guinn Construction have completed drainage excavation and pile driving, and poured concrete for the bent caps and bridge deck.
Crews are currently installing new approach slabs.
Upcoming work includes installing concrete barriers, guardrail, storm drain pipes, catch basins, pavement markings, as well as replacing asphalt pavement.
All lanes on LA 717 between Weekly Road and Louisiana Avenue remain closed to vehicle traffic. The closure is anticipated to remain in effect until Friday, May 15, 2026.
Motorists heading northbound or southbound on LA 717 can use LA 717 to LA 14, then back to LA 717 as a detour.
Replacement of the first bridge for this project was completed in the summer of 2025.
