Friday, March 6, 2026:US 90 Chef Menteur Pass Bridge Update:
• Structural deterioration was identified during further evaluation of the US 90 Chef Menteur Pass Bridge. • DOTD crews are preparing repairs and coordinating scaffolding installation to access affected areas. • Repairs will include removing deteriorated steel and installing new structural steel components. • DOTD estimates repairs will take approximately six weeks once scaffolding installation begins. • Marine traffic remains open.
Original Release: February 26, 2026 NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has closed the US 90 Chef Menteur Pass Bridge due to structural concerns identified during a bridge inspection.
The bridge will remain closed to vehicular traffic until further notice.
Marine traffic will remain open.
DOTD will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
