UPDATE - REOPENED: Vancil Rd. overpass over I-20, Ouachita Parish
(UPDATE 2/23/2026): DOTD advises motorists that the Vancil Road overpass bridge has been reopened to traffic. The current weight restriction of 15-25 Tons will remain in place.

Original notification - 2/12/2026:
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that the Vancil Road overpass over I-20 in Ouachita Parish is closed in both directions, effective immediately, due to a crash involving two 18-wheelers that impacted the bridge.
This bridge is located just west of the Well Road interchange in West Monroe.
DOTD staff are mobilizing and will be assessing damage to the overpass in order to determine the need for appropriate repairs.
DOTD will issue an update when additional information is available. The Vancil Rd. overpass will remain closed until further notice.
Restrictions/Permits: Total road closure at the specified location.
Alternate Route: Detour signage will be in place.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
