REMINDER: Intermittent lane closures for I-20 major rehab project, Bossier Parish

BOSSIER CITY – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development reminds motorists that intermittent lane closures remain necessary as part of the ongoing $128 million I-20 major rehabilitation project in Bossier City.

While all of the major construction work such as concrete paving and drainage is complete, the project is still an active work zone with other tasks taking place.

Drivers should anticipate possible lane closures in both directions during the daytime from near Hamilton Road to Industrial Drive (LA 782-2) to allow for the safe execution of remaining tasks. Once the work is complete for that day, the lane closures will be removed.

The contractor is currently working on signage and lighting installation, with the primary final task being the application of permanent roadway striping and reflectorized markers. Striping operations are highly weather dependent and are anticipated to take several weeks to fully complete.

DOTD would like to thank the patience of the traveling public while this critical infrastructure improvement project was underway, and continue to urge safe driving as we move toward the official completion.

To read much more about the project and access additional resources, visit the I-20 project webpage here.

Special note:

At this time, the commercial motor vehicle (CMV) prohibition will remain in effect due to narrow lane widths at certain locations within the work zone. This is enforced under Louisiana Revised Statute 32:327 from Hamilton Road to Industrial Drive (both directions). CMV drivers must continue to utilize the primary detour of I-220.

Safety reminder:

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
