Update 4/1/2026: Work continues on this project.

Monroe - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that final pass for storm debris removal along state routes, will begin April 1st, 2026, in the following Parishes:

East Carroll
Jackson
Madison
Morehouse
Richland
West Carroll

Contracted debris removal for the Winter Weather Strom Event began on February 9th, 2026, throughout the impacted areas, and has been substantially completed. In order to ensure the removal of hazards within the Rights-of-Way (ROWs), crews will conduct one final pass to remove punch lists of remaining hazards.

As a reminder, any debris placed on state roadways after the completion of final pass will have to be removed through normal waste management means and will not be removed by state contractors.

DOTD would like to remind citizens of the following important tips for assisting the debris removal process.

-State contractors are only able to remove debris from state right-of-way.

-A good rule of thumb for ensuring the debris is on the right of way is to place on the road side of the utility poles.

-Please do not put debris on power lines, fire hydrants, utility stub outs or anything that would hinder the claw that grabs the debris.

Update 3/4/2026: Construction continues on this project.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the start of an emergency tree debris removal project in the following parishes in Northeast Louisiana along all State Highways as needed:

Union
Lincoln
Jackson
Ouachita
Richland
Morehouse
West Carroll
East Carroll
Madison

Work on the project is scheduled to begin immediately.

Intermittent lane closures and shoulder closures will be used to allow for tree removal operations on all state routes as needed in these parishes.

Following these initial lane closures, motorists should expect ongoing intermittent lane closures on all routes to allow for construction work to progress safely and efficiently. Drivers should anticipate some delays, particularly during peak travel times.

Safety reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
