Construction is underway for State Projects H.013116. This is an active safety improvement project to widen LA 20 approximately three miles in St. James and Lafourche parishes.
LA 20 will have alternating lane closures in both directions, beginning Tuesday, January 27, and extending thru Friday, January 30, 2026 between LA 643 and LA 307. Weekday closures will be from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM Tuesday through Friday. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic through the work zone. One lane of travel will be maintained at all times. Motorists should expect delays when traveling through the work zone.
These closures are necessary to perform temporary repairs on the bridge approaches for the two bridges along this section of LA 20.
Restrictions: No permit or oversized loads greater than 12’ feet wide will be able to pass. These loads should contact the DOTD permit office for a new route.
These closures are subject to change due to adverse weather conditions.
