PROJECT UPDATE: LA 530 asphalt overlay, Caddo Parish

CADDO PARISH – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development reminds motorists that work is underway on a $4.7 million project to repair a 5.3 mile section of LA 530 from LA 538 to I-49 near Oil City in north Caddo Parish.

Beginning Monday, January 19, 2026, crews will be working to repair a cross drain pipe located approximately 0.5 miles west of I-49. Traffic will be maintained with flagging operations during these repairs, which are anticipated to take two (2) days.

Follow that work, beginning on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the contractor will begin working to remove and replace two large culverts located under the roadway, also located approx. 0.5 miles west of I-49. This will require a full road closure, which will remain in place for about three (3) weeks, weather permitting.

Motorists wishing to access LA 530 from I-49 (going west) should plan alternate routes during this time, such as utilizing LA 1.

There are several cross drain pipes located under LA 530 that will be replaced as part of this project, and additional dates will be issued when those are finalized.

Overall, the project includes drainage improvements such as the cross drain replacements, full-depth base repairs at specified locations, milling to remove old asphalt, new asphalt paving, new guardrail, fresh roadway striping & signage, and related work.

The entire project is anticipated to wrap up in late Spring 2026, weather permitting.

This project is made possible by the Louisiana Transportation Infrastructure Fund (LTIF) via House Bill 2 of the 2024 Regular Legislative Session.
