BELLE CHASSE, LA. - The Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel Replacement Project announces the activation of permanent signals at the intersection of LA 23 and Engineers Rd. The anticipated traffic impacts of these activities include:
Lane Closure Updates: 1/14 - 1/16/2026
Wednesday Night 1/14/26 From 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Right lane LA 23 southbound closure from Algiers Bridge to Barriere Rd.
- Right lane LA 23 northbound closure from Woodland to Algiers, then shifting to a left lane closure between Barriere Rd. and the Algiers Bridge
Thursday Night 1/15/26 From 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Right lane LA 23 southbound closure from Algiers Bridge to Barriere Rd.
- Right lane LA 23 northbound closure from Woodland to Algiers, then shifting to a left lane closure between Barriere Rd. and the Algiers Bridge
Friday Daytime 1/16/26 From 9 a.m. to Noon
- No lane closures; however, state troopers and local law enforcement will be directing traffic at Engineers Rd./LA 23 during periods when the new traffic light is non-operational. Drivers may encounter delays during this time.
Friday Night 1/16/26 From 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Right lane LA 23 southbound closure from Algiers Bridge to Barriere Rd.
- Left lane LA 23 northbound Barriere Rd. to Algiers Bridge
