RAMP REOPENED: I-20 westbound on-ramp from US 71 (Barksdale Blvd), Bossier Parish
BOSSIER CITY – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that an additional access point in Bossier City has been restored following its full reconstruction as part of the $128 million I-20 major rehabilitation project.
The I-20 westbound on-ramp from US 71 (Barksdale Blvd.) has officially been REOPENED to traffic.
This comes after the ramp was completely removed down to the dirt and fully re-built with new roadway base, asphalt and concrete.
The I-20 westbound on-ramp from LA 3 (Benton Rd) is anticipated to reopen late Friday, December 19th, pending the completion of final work items. DOTD will issue another update when that ramp opens.
The final ramp to reopen will be the I-20 eastbound off-ramp to Benton Road will remain closed at this time as construction activities continue. That ramp is expected to reopen in early 2026, weather permitting.
Additionally, the eastbound travel lanes are anticipated to reopen on Saturday, December 20th. The outside (far right) eastbound lane near the Hamilton Road interchange will remain closed, but the two left lanes will reopen to traffic.

Special note:
At this time, the commercial motor vehicle (CMV) prohibition will remain in effect due to narrow lane widths at certain locations within the work zone. This is enforced under Louisiana Revised Statute 32:327 from Hamilton Road to Industrial Drive (both directions). CMV drivers must utilize the primary detour of I-220.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
