PROJECT UPDATE: LA 9 asphalt overlay, Natchitoches Parish
NATCHITOCHES PARISH – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises the traveling public that the $7 million project to repair a stretch of LA 9 in Natchitoches Parish continues to make progress.
The project, which kicked off in June 2025, is providing improvements to a nearly 7 mile section of LA 9 from US 71 in Campti to LA 156.
Work includes full-depth patching to repair the base of the roadway at specified locations, drainage improvements, milling to remove the old asphalt, and new asphalt paving along the length of the project.
The contractor is currently working on soil cement operations, which forms a stable foundation for the base of the roadway at certain locations. Asphalt paving operations have also begun at other areas along the project route.
Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures in order to allow construction activities to proceed safely and efficiently. Drivers are urged to remove all distractions, and never drive while distracted or impaired.
The entire project is anticipated to wrap up in Summer 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that may impact construction timelines.
This project was made possible by funding from the Louisiana Transportation Infrastructure Fund (LTIF).
