ACADIA PARISH — Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) Secretary Glenn Ledet joined state and local officials today to celebrate the start of construction on two roadway improvements along LA 95 in Acadia Parish. The projects mark a significant investment in rural infrastructure and will enhance safety, improve ride quality, and support long-term mobility for residents, businesses, and agricultural operations in the region. LA 95 serves as an important connector for daily commuters, school transportation, emergency response, and farm-to-market travel throughout the parish.

The first project is a $5.6 million state-funded project that will include a 4.45-mile section of LA 95 from LA 365 to 0.55 miles south of LA 178. The project will include drainage structures, milling asphalt pavement, pavement patching, fiberglass reinforced paving mat, asphalt concrete overlay, and related work.

The second project is an $8.85 million project that will include a 2.12-mile section of LA 1100, a 3.58-mile section of LA 95, and a 0.25-mile section of LA 365. The project will include drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, lime treatment, in-place cement treated subgrade and base, pavement patching, asphalt concrete, minor structure concrete work, and pavement marking.
“These improvements reflect our commitment to providing safer and more reliable infrastructure for every community in Louisiana,” said Secretary Ledet. “LA 95 is a vital route for the people of Acadia Parish, and this project will benefit families, businesses, and travelers for years to come.”
Construction activities will include roadway upgrades designed to address long-standing needs along the corridor. DOTD encourages motorists to remain aware of posted signage and to exercise caution while traveling through the work zone.
Speaker of the House Phillip DeVillier stated, “The LA 95 improvements are a great example of what can be accomplished when state and local partners work together. This project will enhance safety and improve daily travel for everyone who relies on this corridor. I’m proud to support efforts that strengthen our rural communities.”
“Today’s groundbreaking represents a meaningful investment in the people of Acadia Parish. Improving LA 95 will support our families, our farmers, and the economic strength of this region. I appreciate the partnership with DOTD and local leaders to move this project forward,” said Louisiana State Senator Bob Hensgens.
“LA 95 is an important route for our parish, and these upgrades will make a real difference in the lives of our residents,” said Acadia Parish Police Juror Paul Guidry. “We’re grateful for DOTD’s commitment to investing in rural infrastructure and for the teamwork that brought this project to this point. This is a win for Acadia Parish.”
“I’m proud to be here to mark the start of construction on this important project,” added Church Point Mayor Ryan Meche. “This project will help to open the door for additional economic development in Church Point.”
Secretary Ledet recognized the partnership of local officials, legislators, DOTD District 03 staff, and project contractors whose collaboration helped bring the project to fruition. He also thanked residents for their patience and ongoing support.
The groundbreaking marks an important step in strengthening the transportation network throughout southwest Louisiana and improving the quality of life for communities across the region.
These projects are estimated for completion in summer 2026.
