The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that, weather permitting, roadway work will begin on the Holton Harris Road Bridge Replacement Project on Monday, December 1, 2025 and will continue for approximately (6) six months. This bridge replacement project is located on Holton Harris Road over Vernon Lake. This 0.072 mile long bridge replacement project will receive clearing and grubbing, removal of timber bridge, grading, class II base course, asphalt concrete pavement, concrete slab span bridge, precast concrete piles and related work.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Merrick, LLC in the amount of $1,276,740.55.
Permit/Detour section
The contractor will begin removing the existing bridge on Monday, December 1, 2025. The roadway will be closed to all local and through traffic for the duration of the project. The Vernon Parish Police Jury has provided a temporary access road for local traffic to access the west end of Holton Harris Rd via McNeely Rd and Brown Rd from Holly Grove Rd.
