New Traffic Pattern: H.010909 – LA 44 – Ascension Parish

Construction continues for State Projects H.010909. This State Project is to construct a roundabout at LA 44 and LA 941, as well as widen LA 44 between the Bayou Conway bridge and the Panama Canal bridge.
The new roundabout at LA 44 and LA 941 (Brittany Tower Rd) is now functional. Drivers should navigate this intersection as a functioning roundabout. The median curb has been installed along LA 44, which will limit left turns between W. Edenborne Pkwy and the Panama Canal Bridge. Drivers wishing to take a left within these limits should utilize the roundabouts at Conway and (LA 941) Brittany Tower to achieve this.
LA 44 between the Conway Roundabout and Edenborne Pkwy is now opened to four lanes of traffic. LA 44 from the Conway Roundabout to the Panama Canal will continue to have only two lanes opened to traffic during this phase of construction.
Daily lane single closures are possible between the Panama Canal Bridge and the Bayou Conway Bridge, Mondays thru Fridays, between 7:00am - 5:00pm. These closures are expected to extend until Friday, February 13th, 2026.
These closures are for cutting loop detectors, striping, signage, installing mailboxes, and dressing roadway shoulders.
