GONZALES, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that traffic will shift tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 29, as part of ongoing work to construct three new roundabouts along LA 30 in Ascension Parish.
Overnight, crews will implement short-term closures and lane shifts to move traffic into the new roundabout at LA 30 and South St. Landry Avenue/Robert Wilson Drive. Beginning Thursday, Oct. 30, motorists will experience a new traffic pattern as the roundabout becomes fully operational.
Once open, South St. Landry Avenue and Robert Wilson Drive will both be accessible to traffic. The roundabout will operate with one lane of travel while construction continues in the area.
Crews will now shift their focus to constructing the remaining two roundabouts near the I-10 eastbound and westbound ramps. Unlike earlier phases, which experienced delays due to underground utility conflicts, this next phase is expected to progress more quickly with minimal excavation work.
The overall project remains on schedule and is anticipated to be completed by mid-2026.
Safety Reminder: DOTD appreciates your patience and would like to remind drivers to exercise caution and drive with care through construction sites. Please be mindful of work crews and their equipment, and adhere to all posted signage and speed limits.
