PROJECT UPDATE - DOTD announces project to replace six rural bridges in Red River & Bienville Parishes (UPDATE 12/12/2025): DOTD advises motorists that work continues on the replacement of the LA 514 bridge over Bayou Chicot in Red River Parish.
The contractor is currently working on completing the bridge deck, which is highly temperature dependent to allow for proper curing of concrete. Additional work at this site includes the construction of the roadway in order to tie in to the new bridge, forming of concrete barrier rail, guardrail installation, and new roadway striping.
This bridge is anticipated to reopen in March 2026, weather permitting. It is located approximately 1.8 miles east of US 71.
This $12 million project includes the replacement of six rural bridges in Red River in Bienville Parishes, and is a significant investment in ensuring the continued connectivity of the communities that utilize these bridges.

(UPDATE 11/14/2025): DOTD advises motorists that the Minden Road bridge over Stanley Creek south of Womack in Red River Parish has been REOPENED to traffic following its replacement.
This structure is a parish-owned bridge located approximately 0.7 miles east of LA 507 and is included in this ongoing project to replace six rural bridges in Red River and Bienville Parishes.
As a reminder, the LA 507 bridge immediately south of LA 514 near Womack closed on November 13, 2025 for a full replacement.
That bridge closure is anticipated to last approximately 9 months, weather and other factors permitting. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(UPDATE 10/31/2025): DOTD advises motorists that the LA 507 bridge near the Village of Castor in Bienville Parish is now OPEN to traffic following its full replacement.
The date for the closure of the next bridge on LA 507 for replacement has been revised to begin on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
REVISED LOCATION: This bridge is located immediately south of the intersection of LA 514 near the community of Womack in Red River Parish.
This bridge closure is scheduled to be in place approximately 9 months, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
Restrictions/Permits: Total road closure at the specified location on LA 507. All vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.

(UPDATE 10/28/2025): DOTD announces an update to the ongoing $12 million project to replace six rural bridges in Red River and Bienville Parishes.
On Friday, October 31, 2025, the LA 507 bridge over an unnamed waterway near the Village of Castor is scheduled to be REOPENED following its replacement. This bridge was previously closed in Jan. 2025, and is located approximately 0.5 miles southwest of the intersection of LA 507, LA 4, and LA 153 in Bienville Parish.
Beginning on Monday, November 3, 2025, the next bridge on LA 507 in this project will close for replacement. This bridge is located over an unnamed creek, approximately 0.12 miles south of the intersection of LA 514 and LA 507 in Red River Parish.
This bridge closure is scheduled to be in place approximately 9 months, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
The Minden Road bridge over Stanley Creek in Red River Parish also remains under construction as part of this project, and is anticipated to reopen in late November 2025.
Restrictions/Permits: Total road closure at the specified location on LA 507. All vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.

(UPDATE 10/15/2025): DOTD advises the public that progress continues on the replacement of the LA 514 bridge over Bayou Chicot, as part of a larger project to replace six rural bridges in Red River & Bienville Parishes.
The current timeline for reopening this bridge is December 2025, weather permitting.

(UPDATE 3/3/2025): DOTD advises the public that the next bridge site as part of this ongoing project will close for removal and replacement beginning on Monday, March 17, 2025.
This $12 million project includes the replacement of six rural bridges in Red River and Bienville Parishes.
The next bridge site is located on LA 514 over Bayou Chicot approximately 1.8 miles east of US 71 in Red River Parish. This closure is anticipated to be in place for approximately 8 months, weather and other factors permitting.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces a $12 million project to replace rural six bridges in Red River Parish and Bienville Parishes, including along LA 507, LA 514 and one locally-owned route as well.
The project is slated to begin on Monday, October 21, 2024 with the closure of the Minden Road bridge over Stanley Creek south of Womack, which is a parish-owned bridge located approximately 0.7 miles east of LA 507.
The closure is anticipated to last approximately 8 months, and is necessary to allow for the full removal and replacement of the structure.
Additional information about the replacement of the other bridges included in the project will be issued as the project progresses.
The entire project – replacement of all six structures – is anticipated to be complete in Spring 2028, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
