OUACHITA PARISH – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the start of a project to replace the LA 838 (New Natchitoches Road) Bridge at Steep Bayou located approximately .7 miles West of Well Road.
Work on the project is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 27, 2025, weather permitting.
Beginning October 27th, intermittent lane closures will be used to allow for construction operations. Flaggers will used to maintain traffic flow from both directions.
Drivers should anticipate some delays, particularly during peak travel times.
The overall project involves replacement of the Steep Bayou Bridge. Traffic will be maintained during construction using a temporary detour bridge.
The entire project is anticipated to wrap up Early 2027, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
