DOTD Announces Start of $12M Preservation Project on Catahoula Highway (La. 96) in St. Martin Parish

ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Monday, October 27, 2025, construction will commence on a $12.03 million dollar project on La. 96 (Catahoula Highway) from 0.12 miles east of La. 347 to La. 352 in St. Martin Parish.
PROJECT SCOPE This project will consist of patching, milling asphaltic concrete, asphalt concrete overlay, drainage improvements, and related work.
WORK SCHEDULE The work is estimated to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS Intermittent lane closures will be required to perform the work, therefore, drivers should expect delays. There will also be a planned full road closure event during the project, which is necessary to install drainage structures across the roadway. The Department will publish a press release for this planned road closure event and a detour route will be posted.
Emergency vehicles will have access through this area, except during the planned road closure event which will be announced.
The project is estimated for completion in fall 2026.
