PROJECT UPDATE - DOTD announces a $4.8M project to repair a section of LA 1200 in Rapides Parish
(UPDATE 12/9/2025): DOTD advises motorists that the below referenced closure on LA 1200 near Boyce in Rapides Parish is now scheduled to begin on Monday, January 5, 2026, weather permitting.
This full road closure is located approximately 1,500 feet west of I-49, and approximately 3,000 feet east of LA 121.
The purpose of the closure is to allow crews to reconstruct the roadway and base, extending the overall service life of the roadway.
All work associated with the road closure is anticipated to be complete by early February, 2026, weather and other factors permitting.
Permit/Detour section
LA 1200 Eastbound:
Traffic will detour onto LA 121 Northbound, continue on LA 121 Northbound to the LA 1 intersection. From there, traffic may exit right on to LA 1 Southbound, then turn right onto LA 1200.
LA 1200 Westbound:
Traffic will detour onto LA 1 North bound, then turn left onto LA 121 southbound. Once traveling on LA 121 southbound turn left onto LA 1200.

(UPDATE 11/4/2025): DOTD advises motorists that beginning on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 7:00 a.m., a section of LA 1200 near Boyce in Rapides Parish will be closed as part of an ongoing project to repair the roadway.
This full road closure is located approixmately 1,500 feet west of I-49, and approximately 3,000 feet east of LA 121.
The purpose of the closure is to allow crews to reconstruct the roadway and base, extending the overall service life of the roadway.
All work associated with the road closure is anticipated to be complete by January 1, 2026, weather and other factors permitting.

Additionally, please note that there will be 12 foot width restrictions for the travel lanes during construction work.

Original notification - 10/23/2025:
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces the kick-off of a $4.8 million construction project that will provide repairs to over four miles of LA 1200 south of Boyce in Rapides Parish.
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 7:00 AM, weather permitting.
This 4.2 mile project – which stretches from LA 121 to LA 1 - consists of grading, milling asphalt pavement, pavement patching, drainage structures, class II base course, lime treatment, fiberglass reinforced paving mat, asphalt concrete overlay, and related work.
Alternating lane closures will be necessary to allow construction to progress safely and efficiently, and motorists should be prepared for some possible delays.
All work is anticipated to be completed by February 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
The contract was awarded to Gilchrist Co., LLC.
Permit/Detour section:
There are no detours at this time associated with these alternating lane closures.
