REOPENED: The LA 56/Boudreaux Canal Bridge has reopened.
Terrebonne Parish – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces an update on the vehicular closure of the LA 56/Boudreaux Canal Swing Bridge in Terrebonne Parish.
The closure was necessary because of a mechanical issue with the bridge’s hydraulic cylinder. The cylinder has been removed and sent to a local specialized repair shop for overhaul, which is expected to be completed shortly. Once completed, the contractor will reinstall the hydraulic cylinder, followed by repairs to the control system once the cylinder has been tested and confirmed to be working correctly.
DOTD estimates the bridge will reopen to vehicular traffic on the morning of Friday, October 24.
The bridge remains open to marine traffic.
Motorists are advised to detour via LA 57.
