The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises the public that LA 1, Alexandria, Rapides Parish, will be closed at the Union Pacific Railroad track going into the UTLX plant. The work is being done at milepost 268.641 and is on control section 053-01.
The closure will be on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 7:00 AM with a reopening at 5:00 PM on Friday, October 31, 2025. This emergency closure is for a problem in the rail crossing that will require the removal of the surface pads in the roadway. Permitted\Oversized loads and Emergency Vehicles will be allowed to pass thru the closure due to the short notice.
Permit/Detour Section
The roadway will be closed completely to all traffic during this time.
Detour Route:
The detour will be LA 1 North to Rapides Station Road to I-49 South to Air Base Road (LA 498) West to LA 1 North
The detour can accept oversized loads.
The detour route will be identified with proper markings for the general public.
All emergency agencies will be notified of the road closure.
