DOTD announces project to replace pavement markings on I-20 in Caddo Parish SHREVEPORT – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the kick-off of a project that will remove and replace all the pavement markings along a 12 mile stretch of I-20 in Caddo Parish.
The $419,714 project is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, and includes the removal of all the old striping and raised reflectorized markers, and replacing with all new markings on the interstate from the Texas state line to I-220 in Shreveport.
This work will be restricted to nighttime only to reduce the inconvenience to the traveling public, and involves slow-moving operations along the travel lanes and interchanges.
Motorists should be aware that they may encounter these rolling operations on I-20 nightly between approximately 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and should drive with caution.
The entire project should wrap up in early 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
Pavement markings are used to convey messages to roadway users. They indicate which part of the road to use, provide information about conditions ahead, and indicate where passing is allowed.
Pavement markings provide continuous information to motorists related to roadway alignment, vehicle positioning, and other important driving-related tasks.
Safety reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
