Construction is underway for State Project H.014086, US 61: St. James Parish. This project is 8.883 miles in St. James Parish. The type of work includes milling asphalt concrete, pavement patching, class II base course, asphalt concrete overlay, cable barrier system, concrete strip, striping, traffic signalization, and related work at a cost of $13,040,027.99
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development reminds motorists of this active construction zone on US 61 within St. James Parish. Motorists have access to travel the roadway, but should anticipate delays due to alternating single lane closures on US-61 (Airline Hwy) both Northbound and Southbound between the St. John the Baptist Parish Line and I-10. These closures are scheduled to take place between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, Mondays thru Fridays. These lane closures will continue from Thursday, April 16, and extend thru Friday, June 26, 2026.
These closures are required to install median cable barriers along US 61.
