UPDATE - REOPENED: LA 556 at Dry Creek, Jackson Parish 
(UPDATE 9/29/2025): DOTD advises motorists that repairs are complete and the LA 556 bridge at Dry Creek in Jackson Parish has been reopened to traffic.

Original notification - 9/28/2025:
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that, effective immediately, the LA 556 bridge at Dry Creek in Jackson Parish is closed.
These bridge closure is necessary to allow DOTD crews to assess and mobilize in order to perform emergency repairs to the bridge deck. The closure will be in place until further notice.
This bridge is located approximately 4 miles west of the intersection with LA 144. (see included map)
DOTD will issue an update when the repairs are complete and the bridge has been reopened.
Restrictions/Permits: Total road closure at the specified location. ALL vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.
Alternate Route: Detour signage will be in place.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
