***NOW OPEN: LA 838 in Ouachita Parish***
UPDATE (9/10/2025): Due to unforeseen circumstances, the LA 838 road closure has been postponed to Saturday, September 20th.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning on Saturday, September 13, 2025, a section of LA 838 in Ouachita Parish will be closed to thru traffic.
This closure is located approximately 0.5 miles east of its intersection with LA 546, and is necessary to allow for the replacement of a cross drain pipe that is impacting the integrity of the roadway.
The LA 838 road closure is anticipated to last 2 days, and should be reopened Sunday, September 14, 2025.
DOTD reminds motorists to NEVER drive around ‘road closed’ barricades at any time for any reason.
Restrictions/Permits:
Total road closure at the specified location. All vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.
Alternate Route:
Detour signage will be in place.
This work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.
