DOTD Announces Start of $1.7M La. 975 Creek Bridges Replacement Project

ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Tuesday, September 15, 2025, construction will commence on a $1.7 million dollar bridge replacement project along La. 975 between La. 190 to I-10 in St. Martin Parish.

PROJECT SCOPE
This project consist of the removal of two existing timber bridges, installation of two new concrete slab span bridges and related work.

WORK SCHEDULE
Work is estimated to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

TRAVEL IMPACTS
Beginning on September 15, 2025 at 7 a.m. La. 975 will be closed to thru traffic, including emergency vehicles. This road closure is necessary to allow crews to remove and replace the existing bridge at two separate bridge sites at the locations listed below:

  • Road Closure 1 Location: La. 975 (5 miles north of I-10).
  • Road Closure 2 Location: La. 975 (4.4 miles north of I-10).

The Whiskey Bay Atchafalaya Boat Launch will be accessible to the public from the I-10 side of La. 975 throughout the course of the project. There will be no access to the boat launch from U.S. 190.

The posted detour route will include I-10, La. 76, La. 77, and U.S. 190.

The project is estimated to be complete in August 2026.
