UPDATE - REOPENED: LA 511 (W. 70th Street) near Meriwether Rd., Caddo Parish
(UPDATE 9/13/2025): DOTD advises motorists that this cross drain pipe replacement is complete and LA 511 (W. 70th Street) has been reopened.

Original notification - 9/3/2025:
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning on Monday, September 8, 2025, a section of LA 511 (W. 70th Street) in Shreveport, Caddo Parish will be closed.
This closure is scheduled to remain in place until Friday, September 12, 2025, and is necessary to allow DOTD crews to replace a cross drain pipe located under the roadway.
This pipe is located immediately east of the intersection with Meriwether Road (see included map).
Access to Meriwether Road from LA 511 will also be closed. Motorists will need to access Meriwether Road via Walker Road.
Restrictions/Permits: Total road closure at the specified location. All vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.
Alternate Route: Appropriate detour signage will be in place.
This work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
