Friday, August 29, 2025 at 3:01:14 PM
Update: 3 p.m., Friday, August 29:
- Because contractors successfully replaced the first of two bridge motors today, the LA 39/Judge Seeber Bridge will not be closed this weekend as planned. With the first motor now functioning properly, the bridge will resume its normal schedule effective immediately. Future closures will be needed for installing the second motor, but the exact timing has not been set. DOTD will keep the public informed of any updates regarding the bridge's status.
Previously released August 24, 2025: New Orleans -- The LA 39 / Judge Seeber / Claiborne Ave. Bridge in New Orleans is currently not fully operational due to mechanical issues with two lift motors. The Department of Transportation and Development has received permission from the United States Coast Guard to adjust designated access times through the end of August. This will allow expanded vehicle access and additional time for repairs.
- Starting today, August 24, through 10 p.m., Friday, August 29, the bridge will be open to vehicle traffic daily from 5 am to 10 pm. Overnight, from 10 pm to 5 am, the bridge will be in the open position to allow marine traffic only and will be closed to vehicles.
- Beginning at 10 pm on Friday, August 29, the bridge will be closed to both vehicle and marine traffic until 7 pm on August 31 so crews can install the first of two bridge motors that need repair. More guidance on closure times after August 31 will be provided once crews have installed one of the motors and checked its functionality.
