Belle Chasse Bridge & Tunnel Project: Weekly Lookahead, Closures Extended on LA 23

BELLE CHASSE, LA. - The Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel Replacement Project announces the extension of short-term intermittent lane closures from Wednesday, Aug. 20, through Friday, November 7, 2025. The lane closures will affect northbound and southbound traffic on LA 23 between Dale Avenue and Barriere Road along with the Engineers Road detour.
The LA-23 single lane closures will include:
· Monday through Thursday: 7 p.m. - 5 a.m.
· Friday: 7 p.m. - 9 a.m. (Saturday)
· Saturday: 6 p.m. - 11 a.m. (Sunday)
· Sunday, 2 p.m. - 5 a.m. (Monday)
The project team will keep the public updated with weekly lane closure notices (subject to change if scheduled work is impacted by delays such as weather, scheduling, etc.).
This coincides with continued work throughout LA 23 and adjacent roads for X Street Ramp and associated work including LA 23 medians and Engineers Road island for final configuration. Traffic will be redirected into the final configuration after the current phasing and is subject to change if/when the final traffic switch occurs before this period expires.
