H.014088 – LA 427 – Ascension Parish

Construction is underway for State Project H.014088. This is an active safety improvement project to create a new left turn lane from US 61 northbound onto LA 427 westbound, as well as widen a portion of LA 427.
US 61 (Airline Hwy) will continue to have nightly signal lane closures in both directions, beginning August 10th, and extending through September 5th, 2025. These closures will be located between the Ascension/East Baton Rouge Parish line and LA 42 in Ascension Parish. Weeknight closures will be from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM Sundays through Thursdays. One lane of travel will be maintained in each direction at all times.
These closures are necessary for installing new left turn lanes in the median and installing new signal hardware.
This is also a reminder that a new traffic pattern is in effect at the intersection of Walmart Drive and LA 427. Left turns are no longer permitted from LA 427 WB into Walmart Drive, as well as left turns from Walmart Drive onto LA 427 WB. Through movements from Walmart Drive onto Perkins Oak Road are also not permitted. Walmart Drive is to function as a right in/right out access. Please follow all signage, striping, and cones when traversing this new traffic pattern.
These closures are subject to change due to adverse weather conditions.
