Previous notification - 7/10/2025:

MONROE
– The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will host a public meeting in order to provide information regarding an upcoming asphalt overlay & road diet project in the City of Monroe.

The meeting will be held in an open-house format, with attendees free to come and go at any point during the allotted time frame to obtain information and speak with representatives of DOTD.

Meeting details are as follows:

Thursday, July 24, 2025

4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Monroe Public Safety Center

1810 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive

Monroe, LA 71202

The purpose of the project is to repair the section of LA 15 (Winnsboro Rd.) from US 165 to US 165-Business with a mill and asphalt overlay.

As part of this project, the roadway will be re-striped as a 3-lane section (one lane in each direction with a center turn lane) from Hadley Street to Orange Street, with five foot paved shoulders. The project also includes adding pedestrian crossings at the intersections of LA 15 and 2nd Street and 2nd Street and Plum Street.

The portion of LA 15 from Hadley St. to US 165-B will then be transferred to the City of Monroe for ownership.

This type of ‘road diet’ is a proven safety countermeasure that can reduce the risk of crashes by eliminating conflict points between vehicles and pedestrians. By calming traffic and reducing speeds, the risk of severe crashes is also lessened.

DOTD urges members of the community and other interested stakeholders to attend the meeting and share in the project development process.
