Update: LA 39/Judge Seeber Bridge (Orleans Parish)
Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 10:24:34 AM
New Orleans - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises motorists of an upcoming full closure of the LA 39 Judge Seeber/Claiborne Ave. Bridge in Orleans Parish.

The bridge will be closed to all vehicular traffic starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, July 14, and will remain closed until 6 p.m. on Friday, August 8. This closure is necessary for repairs to the bridge's bearing pedestal and pads, which are the concrete areas that support the bridge's driving span when it is in the down position for vehicular crossing.

DOTD has been working with contractors to fix an issue with the bridge span not properly settling when returning from the upright position. Efforts were made to resolve the problem without needing a full bridge closure. Ultimately, to fully resolve the issue, concrete must be repoured in certain areas and requires time to cure before it can support vehicle weight again. Expansion joints will also be cleaned during the process.

C.E.C., Inc., a contractor based in Lafayette, will perform the work.
