EMERGENCY LANE CLOSURE: LA 28 West, Rapides Parish The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises the public that, effective immediately, the outside (right) lane of LA 28 West, one tenth of a mile east of Ross Street near the Rapides Parish Public Works building in Alexandria, will be closed.
This lane closure is scheduled to be in place from Friday, July 4th through Monday, July 7th, and is necessary to allow for emergency repairs due to heat-related roadway buckling.
Periods of extreme heat can cause concrete pavement to expand, resulting in buckling at the roadway joints that can occur quickly and without warning. DOTD crews are prepared to address these ‘blow-ups’, as they’re commonly referred to.
