  • DOTD crews have installed two 104-inch culverts to support a limestone driving surface, which will act as a temporary road until the bridge replacement project is open for bidding next year.
  • Crews have completed backfilling the pipe and are currently placing stone for erosion control around the ends of pipe.
  • Next, crews will first apply a layer of limestone to the roadway surface, then install guardrails, followed by painting the road stripes. After these steps, the road will be open to the public.
  • The estimated reopening remains scheduled for the end of July.

  • DOTD crews are currently removing a bridge on LA 1026/Lockhart Rd. at Arlington Dr. (near the Ward 2 Water District) close to LA 1030/Cockerham Rd. in Denham Springs, which was closed last week.
  • The bridge initially went into service in 1961.
  • The emergency closure was initiated after a bridge inspection revealed damaged fragments in the driving deck.
  • The current bridge is being removed and replaced by a temporary crossing until a permanent replacement project commences.
  • The temporary crossing is estimated to be ready by the end of July.
  • DOTD appreciates the public's understanding and patience while the bridge is repaired.
