LA 1181 & LA 1182: Asphalt Overlays
Avoyelles Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that, weather permitting, on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 7:00am, the portion of LA 1181, beginning at its western junction with LA 1182 to its eastern junction with LA 1182, and the portion of LA 1182, beginning at its junction with M.P Cutoff Road to its eastern junction with LA 1181 will have alternating lane closures. This construction project is expected to be completed by October 2025.
Additionally, the portion of LA 1182 mentioned above will be closed daily to thru traffic between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm, and will be reopened each evening after work hours. This daily closure is necessary due to the cross drain replacements associated with this project. The work associated with this daily closure is expected to be completed by August 2025.
This 3.05 mile construction project consists of lime treatment, in place cement treated base, cross drain replacement, milling asphalt concrete, asphalt concrete pavement, pavement widening, and related work.
This contract was awarded to Gilchrist Construction Company, LLC. in the amount of $2,937,497.35.
Permit/Detour section
This portion of LA 1182 will be closed daily to thru traffic from 7:00am to 5:00pm for the duration of the cross drain replacement operations. This daily closure is expected to last until August 2025.
The detour is as follows:
East bound traffic will be detoured west on LA 1182 to the intersection of LA 1181. From there, proceed north on LA 1181 to its eastern junction with LA 1182.
West bound traffic will be detoured south on LA 1181 to the intersection of LA 1182. From there, proceed east on LA 1182 to the intersection of M.P Cutoff Road.
The detour route will be identified with proper construction signage. All emergency agencies will be notified of the roadway closure.
