Update: July 1, 2025: The Company Canal Bridge/LA 24 at LA 316 is now open to traffic.
New Orleans - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) provides updated information on DOTD-maintained bridges currently closed in Terrebonne Parish.
Updated as of June 24, 2025:
- Boudreaux Canal Bridge/LA 56 (Opened 1959):The bridge was recently closed following an inspection that determined it was structurally deficient. Repairs are expected to be completed with DOTD maintenance forces by the end of August, but it could be earlier depending on supplies and equipment. Additionally, plans are underway for a new replacement bridge, estimated to cost $30 million, which is scheduled to go out to bid next summer.
- Daigleville Bridge/LA 24 to LA 659 (Opened in 2006): The bridge was closed in February due to mechanical and electrical deficiencies. It is currently being repaired by C.E.C., Inc., with an estimated reopening in October of this year.
- Bayou Blue Pontoon Bridge/LA 316 and Romero St. (Opened in 1972): This bridge was closed after a barge collision on Thanksgiving Day of 2024. It is currently being repaired under a contract with Reliant Industrial Solutions, LLC. The repairs are scheduled to be complete by the end of August.
- Company Canal Bridge/LA 24 at LA 316 (Opening in 2025): The Company Canal Bridge, originally built in 1951, is currently being replaced with a new bridge as part of a $30.4 million project with James Construction Group, LLC. This new bridge is scheduled to open at the end of June.
- Bayou Dularge Bascule Bridge/LA 315 (Opened in 1977): The bridge was closed to vehicular traffic as of June 23, due to a faulty motor on one of the bridge’s two spans. Reliant Industrial Solutions is currently working with DOTD on the repair project, and the bridge is scheduled to reopen to vehicular traffic after the reconfiguration of the other working motors. The estimated reopening is by the end of June or early July.
DOTD only closes bridges when they are deemed unsafe for public use and promptly works on solutions to address any issues. Some repairs can be more complex, such as those resulting from barge strikes, due to structural concerns. Many community bridges are over 50 years old and feature moving parts that require specialized maintenance and fabrication.
DOTD recognizes the importance of bridge access and the inconvenience that closures can cause; however, the safety of drivers remains the top priority, and all federal guidelines must be followed.
