LANE CLOSURES: LA 183 and LA 609 in Richland Parish

Update 6/16/2025 - Effective immediately, the speed limit through the work zone on LA 183 has been reduced to 45 miles per hour.

RICHLAND PARISH – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the start of a project to repair sections of LA 183 and LA 609 at the following locations:
LA 183: I-20 to Fortenberry Road
LA 609: I-20 to US 80
Work on the project is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 16, 2025.
Beginning June 16th, intermittent lane closures will be used to allow for pavement patching operations on these routes. Pilot vehicles will be utilized to assist the traveling public through the work zones.
Following these initial lane closures, motorists should expect ongoing intermittent lane closures on both routes to allow for construction work to progress safely and efficiently. Drivers should anticipate some delays, particularly during peak travel times.
The overall project involves full-depth repairs to address the roadway base, milling to remove the old asphalt, and application of new asphalt to repair the driving surface as well as the subsurface layers.
Emergency vehicles will have access during construction, but may encounter some travel delays, and should consider mapping out alternative routes.
The entire project is anticipated to wrap up in Summer 2025, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
