DOTD announces the following road conditions in the Acadiana region due to severe weather

LAFAYETTE, La. - DOTD announces the following road conditions in the Acadiana region caused by severe weather. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route.

ST. MARTIN PARISH
La. 96 at its intersection with La. 345 (NOW OPEN)
La. 182 from La. 96 to Duson Road (NOW OPEN)
La. 182 from La. 92-1 (Smede Highway) to Duson Road (NOW OPEN as of 9:30 p.m. on 6/13)

LAFAYETTE PARISH
La. 89 near its intersection with Ben Franklin Drive (NOW OPEN)
La. 339 from Millcreek to La. 92 (NOW OPEN)
One lane of U.S. 90 is closed in each direction at La. 92-1 (Young St.) (NOW OPEN)
La. 339 Spur between Detente Road an Decon Road (NOW OPEN)
La. 89 (Guillot Road) at its intersection with Langlinais Road (NOW OPEN)

During inclement weather, drivers should be aware and adhere to the following tips:

  • Do not drive distracted.
  • Turn around, do not drive through water. “Turn around, don’t drown.”
  • Avoid driving through areas with downed lines or other debris.
  • Never use cruise control when visibility is low or the road is wet.
  • Plan for more travel time.
  • Leave extra room between vehicles.
  • Always use headlights when windshield wipers are on. It is a law.
  • Never move any road closed signs.
