DOTD announces recent start of LA 49/Williams Blvd. road improvement project

Kenner, LA. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that work has begun on a $2.2 million resurfacing project of a 0.75-mile section of LA 49/Williams Blvd. in Kenner. The work is being conducted between US 61/Airline Hwy. and W. Metairie Rd., and it will connect with the ongoing $15.4 million Williams Blvd. corridor improvement project that is already in progress.
SCOPE OF WORK The project will include asphalt patching and resurfacing, concrete work (sidewalk and handicapped curb ramps), and pavement striping.
TRAVEL IMPACTS Work is expected to take place mainly from Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, although weekend work is also allowed. Restrictions during this time will be single lane closures with one lane available to motorists at all times.
No lane closures will be permitted Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., as well as 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Drivers should anticipate delays during work hours and should allow extra time for travel.
Emergency vehicles will have access to this area but may experience delays.
The project is expected to be completed this fall.
