DOTD announces recent start of La. 35 and La. 342 road improvement project

ACADIA, VERMILION & LAFAYETTE PARISHES, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that construction recently began on a $5,432,591 base rehab and overlay project on a 3.92-mile section of La. 35, La. 705 and La. 342.

PROJECT LIMITS
The project begins on La. 35 at its intersection with La. 92 and La. 705 in Vermilion Parish and continues northward through Lafayette Parish until slightly north of the Acadia Parish border. The La. 342 portion begins at the Acadia Parish Border and heads east through Lafayette Parish until its intersection with La. 700.

SCOPE OF WORK
The project consists of drainage installation, soil cement operations, pavement patching, milling asphalt concrete, asphalt concrete overlay, pavement markings, and related work.

WORK SCHEDULE
Work is estimated to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

TRAVEL IMPACTS
There will be alternating lanes closures throughout this project.

The road will be open to regular traffic with a 12-foot maximum lane restriction on oversized loads passing through the work zone beginning Monday, June 2.

Emergency vehicles will have access to this area but may encounter delays.

The project is estimated for completion by November of 2025.
