PROJECT UPDATE: LA 830-3 Asphalt Overlay, Morehouse Parish
MOREHOUSE PARISH – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that work is moving ahead on a $2.3 million project to repair a section of LA 830-3 in Bastrop, Morehouse Parish.
As part of this project, a box culvert is being extended to help improve the turning radius at the intersection of LA 830-6 (McCreight St.) and LA 830-3 (Cherry Ridge Rd.). Existing lane widths are currently 10 feet wide, preventing larger vehicles such as 18-wheelers from easily navigating the area.
As a result of these lane widths, large commercial motor vehicles (CMV) such as 18-wheelers should utilize an alternate route. DOTD is requesting that CMVs detour using US 165 (East Madison Ave) to US 425 (North Washington St) in order to bypass the construction.
Utilizing this detour will help ensure continued safety and traffic flow. This particular phase of work (box culvert & new guardrail) is expected to take approximately 30-40 days, weather permitting.
In addition to the box culvert extension, other work on the project includes milling to remove old asphalt and new asphalt paving on the length of the project, which stretches from US 425 to US 165, about 3.5 miles of roadway improvements.
The entire project is anticipated to be complete in Fall 2025, weather and other factors permitting.
