Baton Rouge, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) hosted a successful informational session on Monday to present and discuss a potential progressive design-build (PDB) project focused on bridge bundling, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing the state’s transportation infrastructure through innovative delivery methods. Held at the Transportation Training Education Center (TTEC) auditorium in Baton Rouge, the session attracted a diverse group of stakeholders, including engineering professionals and construction firms from across the region.

DOTD’s Innovative Procurement section led the presentation, providing an overview of the PDB delivery method and how it could be applied to bridge bundling in Louisiana. This approach emphasizes early collaboration between DOTD and industry partners to enhance project efficiency, mitigate risks, and ensure high-quality outcomes.

“Progressive design-build is a new delivery method for DOTD, and we’re enthusiastic about how it can support smarter, more collaborative project outcomes,” said Anna Hanks, director of Innovative Procurement at DOTD. “The bridge bundling initiative is a key part of our broader effort to modernize infrastructure through DOTD’s Plan for Transforming Transportation, and we are grateful for the strong industry participation and feedback we received during this event.”

The agenda included an overview of the proposed bridge bundling initiative, and an open forum for questions and industry feedback. Participants shared insights and recommendations, contributing to a transparent and collaborative planning process that will shape the future of bridge projects across Louisiana. DOTD emphasized its commitment to transparency, accountability, and performance, and reiterated the importance of working alongside legislative leaders, internal divisions, and external partners to meet the evolving transportation needs of the state.
