PROJECT UPDATE: LA 1 (Youree Drive) asphalt overlay, Shreveport (Caddo Parish) SHREVEPORT – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises the traveling public that work on the $3.8 million improvement project on LA 1 (Youree Drive) in Shreveport continues to progress as it nears completion.
On Saturday, May 3rd and Sunday, May 4th, 2025, there will be alternating lane closures on Youree Drive at the intersection of Kings Highway and Youree Drive at Ockley Drive from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day to allow for the application of permanent roadway striping.
Access will be maintained during these times, though drivers should plan for possible slow-downs while crews are out working.
Permanent roadway striping has already been applied at other locations throughout the project, which stretches from Stoner Ave. to Southfield Rd. Asphalt paving on the project was also recently completed following numerous repairs to the roadway base to help prevent future deterioration and strengthen its service life.
Remaining work also includes adjusting manholes along the project route to ensure a smooth ride now that paving on the travel lanes is complete.
Motorists are urged to drive slowly and carefully through the construction zone, paying close attention to crews and equipment.
The entire project, funded through an additional $7.5 million allocated by the state Legislature to each DOTD regional office, should wrap up no later than the end of June 2025, weather permitting.
Previous project updates: Safety reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
