Cameron Parish – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that work on State Project H.014870 – LA 1143 from LA 27 to Muria Road – is scheduled to begin Monday, May 5, 2025.

The $4.19 million project will consist of drainage work, along with patching, milling and overlay work over a seven-mile stretch of LA 1143.

Closure information:
Motorists can expect alternating lane closures on LA 1143 Eastbound and Westbound for the duration of the project. Closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., daily, Monday through Friday. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place for the Eastbound and Westbound lanes of LA 1143 throughout the project.

Lane closures are necessary for crews to perform patching and drainage work. Flaggers will be on site to manage traffic flow.

Prairie Contractors LLC is the contractor for the project. This project is expected to be complete by fall 2025, weather permitting.
