The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that on Monday, April 28th, 2025 construction will begin on I-49 Northbound and Southbound in Natchitoches Parish. This work will begin at the overpass of Johnson Chute and proceed North for 3.179 miles to southeast of its overpass of LA 485.
The intent of this project is to excavate sliding embankment slope material from the Northbound and Southbound slopes of I-49. Related work will include geotextile fabric reinforcement, sign replacement, and temporary concrete barriers.
The contractor will be required to maintain thru traffic at all times, but single lane closures and delays can be expected. The public is advised to remain alert to construction signs and changing roadway conditions.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Brown Industrial Construction, LLC, of Baton Rouge, LA in the amount of $29,603,738.95. The work associated with this project should take approximately 985 calendar days to complete.
Permit/Detour section
The will be a 15’ width restriction on oversized loads. Thru traffic will be maintained at all times. There will be no detour routes for this project.
