New Traffic Pattern: H.010909 – LA 44 – Ascension Parish

Construction is underway for State Projects H.010909. This State Project is to construct a roundabout at LA 44 and LA 941, as well as widen LA 44 between the Bayou Conway bridge and the Panama Canal bridge.
LA 44 southbound has been shifted onto a new section of pavement between Loosemoore Road and the Panama Canal bridge. Left turns will not be permitted during this phase of construction from LA 941 onto LA 44 southbound or from LA 44 southbound onto LA 941. Motorist traveling on LA 941 must take a right onto LA 44 northbound, then take a U-Turn at the Conway Roundabout roughly 1000’ north of the LA 941 intersection. Motorists traveling southbound along LA 44 should continue roughly 1000’ south to take the signed U-Turn to make this left turn onto LA 941. Motorist are advised to proceed through these shifts and detours with caution.
The purpose of this shift if to allow construction of the inside of the new roundabout as well as the new median along the future 4-lane section of LA 44.
