UPDATE - ROPENED: ROAD CLOSURE DUE TO HIGH WATER: LA 590 in Morehouse Parish


(UPDATE 4/10/2025): DOTD advises motorists that the water has receded and LA 590 in Morehouse Parish has been reopened.

Original notification 4/8/2025:

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that, effective immediately, a section of LA 590 in Morehouse Parish is closed due to water over the roadway.

This closure is located approximately one mile west of its intersection with LA 591 and 3.5 miles east of its intersection with US 425.

This closure will remain in place until the water has receded and the roadway is once again safe for travel.

DOTD would like to remind motorists that it is extremely unsafe and illegal to drive around ‘road closed’ barricades at any time for any reason. Never attempt to drive through standing water. Remember to ‘Turn Around, Don’t Drown.’

Restrictions/Permits: Full road closure at the specified location.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
