Second Plaquemine Ferry to be used as relief in Cameron Parish, out of service in Plaquemine beginning March 21

Plaquemine, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that the second Plaquemine/Sunshine Ferry will be out of service, starting Friday, March 21, 2025, until further notice.
DOTD is moving one of the Plaquemine/Sunshine Ferry vessels to the Cameron Ferry crossing to provide temporary replacement service while repairs to the previously operating vessel are being completed.
The remaining vessel will continue to provide service at Plaquemine during the modified hours below until further notice:
- Monday-Friday: 4 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday: 9:30 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.
Cameron Ferry crossing: DOTD is providing a replacement vessel from Plaquemine/Sunshine Ferry to continue service for the Cameron Ferry crossing until repairs to the temporary relief ferry vessel are completed.
