The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning on Monday, February, 24, 2025, the LA 599 Bridge over Bayou Galion will be closed to thru traffic.
This bridge is located approximately 1.75 miles east of its intersection with US 165, north of Mer Rouge, in Morehouse Parish.
This bridge closure is necessary to allow for routine bridge maintenance.
The LA 599 bridge closure is anticipated to last 2 weeks, and should be reopened Friday, March 7, 2025.
DOTD reminds motorists to NEVER drive around ‘road closed’ barricades at any time for any reason.
Permit/Detour:
The detour route will be LA 599 and US 165.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
